Mariska Hargitay

A woman I admire: Mariska Hargitay. As a result of her lead role on Law and Order: SVU, Mariska has become involved with sexual assult prevention and counseling. She's a certified rape counselor and began the Joyful Heart Foundation to assist with therapy for sexual assault victims.

She's a beautiful woman who has earned awards for her portrayal of a police officer who investigates sexual assault crimes. And that could have been the end of her story. But she took the opportunity to educate herself about sexual crime and the ways in which she could help those who have been affected by it. She saw a need and she filled it. She inspires me to seek out ways to be of service to those around me. We see needs all the time; what do we do about it?

Also, and this is the selfish part of me, she got married and had a son later in life than most. So she gives me hope that it is not too late for me, either. And reminds me there are lots of meaningful things I can do in my community, no matter what my first job is.

Rebecca Look, I am Brazilian and I feel the same admiration you for this great actress who is Mariska Hargitay.Essa woman is like an angel radiating love and tenderness around them. I read about this world of celebrity, where people predominate selfish and futile, worried the vast majority appear in more and more. Then I see Mariska, simple, humble in his greatness and generosity of spirit, dedicated to helping the next and my heart is filled with wonder and am almost ternura.Já grandmother and mother could be almost dela.Se I had a beautiful daughter and Mariska (I have only sons) and I would feliz.Porque she becomes convinced that it is a great figure humana.Ah! if all celebrities were like Mariska Hargitay.

After judging a speech competition all morning at a school that is not my own, I was asked to hand out the second place prizes. They also asked some other teachers, but I missed the details because they only gave them in Chinese and I didn’t understand everything. I was only supposed to hand out 4 of 12 prizes. This One Time I Thought I Was Really Hot (But It Was Just The HVAC Talking)

Back in San Antonio, my friend Stacey had asked me to pick her up from the airport. It was full summer, and for those of you who haven't been in San Antonio in the summertime, you know that expression 'hot as an oven'? Well, I like to say San Antonio summers are 'hot as downwind from an exhaust pipe.' (Which means when you actually are downwind from an exhaust pipe, things get really unpleasant.) It's quite common for there to be a temperature difference of 35-40 degrees between indoor and outdoor air during a San Antonio summer. True story: I had a small heater at my work desk and turned it on in the summer, not winter, because the air conditioning was on so high in our building I froze to death at my desk.
